Saturday, May 4th, Graffiti 2 held it’s 2nd annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. Our turnout was twice as many teams as last year. Each participant received a tshirt and played a double elimination tournament.
Last year we had an exciting championship game where a team of much smaller and younger boys beat a team of young adults. This year we had a rematch! Last year’s runner up team was determined to not let a repeat of last year happen. The first game where these teams met was a close one, but the younger team won. The next time they met, it could have been the championship game if the younger team won, but the older guys came back to tie the series. The championship game was ultimately won by the older team this year. This tournament has created a fun rivalry in just two years.
It was an encouraging day for all involved with the tournament. Many were asking when the next tournament would be. We were blessed to have the support of the 40th Precinct who sent some officers to stand by and watch just in case things got too heated between teams. Thanks to the group from FBC Georgetown who helped put on the tournament.
